Cryptocurrencies & Blockchain – The Start of a Revolution?

The cryptocurrency «Bitcoin» generated a lot of positive and negative headlines in the media. With our conference we are kicking off the discussion on the long-term capabilities of digital currencies and their impact.

Bitcoin was launched six years ago. Blockchain, the fundamental technology behind it, contains a lot of potential. Will this technology transform the financial industry in the future? Will it be able to shift the paradigm towards stable financial systems? What are the impacts of Blockchain for other industries?

Leading experts will talk about these topics on 23 September, 2015 in Zurich.

Thomas holds a Master’s degree from the University of St. Gallen and a PhD from the University of Lausanne. He founded several companies and has broad experience as CEO and board member of different companies in the financial industry. He is currently engaged in FinTech research at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and lecturing at the University of Zurich. In addition he is co-founder and board member of two start-ups.
Marc Badertscher
Marc Badertscher is an editor and head of the companies section at Swiss Business Weekly «Handelszeitung». He covers crypto and bitcoin since 2 years and writes regularly on his blog «bits & coins».
Alex Batlin
Group CTO Applied Innovation (R&D)
Alex is a Director in UBS's technology innovation, research and development team covering emerging and trending technology topics like big data analytics, social media, cloud and mobile computing, security, unified communication or content and collaboration. He is also the Global Head of UBS's technology research services team charged with delivering IT industry research to all of UBS's employees and tailored market insights to support UBS's executive team in their decision making. Alex is currently researching the impact of Blockchain in the Europe’s largest technology accelerator for finance «Level 39» in London.
Marc P. Bernegger
Serial Web Entrepreneur & Fintech Investor

Marc P. Bernegger is a serial web entrepreneur and fintech investor. Aged 20, Marc founded the party platform usgang.ch (trade sale to Axel Springer) and he is a founder of amiando (awarded by the World Economic Forum as Global Technology Pioneer in 2010; trade sale to XING). Until 2014, he was partner at the listed investment company Next Generation Finance Invest (today Ayondo Holding). Marc holds several board seats and advisory roles, he is venture partner at the fintech fund Orange Growth Capital and investor in various startups. Marc was awarded as «Newcomer of the year 2010» by Swiss ICT and «100 most successful people under 40 in Switzerland» by BILANZ in 2015.

The company organizes, furthermore, many events and conferences. However, Rino has his background in the financial industry. He worked in different leading positions. He is a Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA) and he acquired in his past career fundamental knowledge in banking and capital investments.
Vitalik Buterin
The 21 year old Vitalik is the programmer, writer, founder of Ethereum and the co-founder of the Bitcoin Magazine. In 2014, he won the World Technology Award for the co-creation and invention of Ethereum. Ethereum, described as a «decentralized mining network and software development platform rolled into one» that facilitates the creation of new cryptocurrencies and programs that share a single block chain. Buterin has contributed to a number of other open source software projects. He also works as a developer on the cryptocurrency marketplace site Egora.

Brigitte worked in different leading positions of major international banks as ABN AMRO, Royal Bank of Scotland and GE Capital. During this time, she acquired fundamental knowhow in investment, private and retail banking. However, Brigitte has a Master of Business Communications and she was a member of the management board of a Swiss bank which is listed on the stock market. Since May 2015 she is CEO of DivorceClub AG, and Senior PR & Communication Consultant in Financial Services
Adriano B. Lucatelli

Entrepreneur & Investor
Adriano is a Swiss entrepreneur in the financial services industry and sits on the board of directors of various companies. He was managing director and a member of the management committee of UBS’s wealth management and business banking unit in Switzerland and successfully set up and grew a Swiss securities dealer and investment firm. Since 2012 he also has been lecturing at the University of Zurich on the political economy of international finance.
Matthias Niklowitz
e-foresight, a Swisscom think tank

Matthias Niklowitz is currently working as an industry analyst and business reporter with e-foresight, a Swisscom think tank on next generation financial services and technologies. Before, we was business reporter in a variety of publications covering technology and financial services. During his career, he spend about ten years in different positions in global investment banking. He is holding a M.A. in Social Sciences and Environmental Sciences and a B.A. in Business Administration.
Andrei Martchouk

Andrei Martchouk is CEO and Co-Founder of Yacuna, the international platform for blockchain solutions. Prior to founding Yacuna, as expert for security and crypotgraphy he was Chief System Architect at ClickandBuy, one of the first German FinTech companies. Andrei managed the in-house development team and several distributed teams for developing and maintaining mission critical financial systems.

Niklas Nikolajsen

Niklas co-founded Bitcoin Suisse AG in August 2013, together with Dr. Schweifer. He has more than 15 years of professional experience as a Software developer & architecht, in finance, manufacture and other industries and sectors. In 2012 Niklas moved from Denmark to Switzerland and worked for several Swiss Financial institutions as a consultant until he founded Bitcoin Suisse AG. Niklas Nikolajsen holds a degree in Computer Science from the Copenhagen Business School.

Guido Rudolphi

Guido Rudolphi first got in contact with computers when he was six years old - which is almost 50 years ago. After a career in journalism, he became a computer and internet-forensics expert and as such got in contact with Bitcoins pretty early. Today, he is active in a Bitcoin-company and one of the persons behind the project «Bitcoin-Bank» in Switzerland.
Paolo Tasca
Economist at Deutsche Bundesbank & Managing Director at ECUREX

Paolo is a financial economist specializing in P2P Financial Systems and Systemic Risk. He is the co-organizer and member of the Scientific Committee of the annual international workshop «P2P Financial Systems». Paolo has a professional accountancy background and served as CFO and Member of the Board of Directors for different European and US SME’s in various sectors. He is also the co-founder and Managing Director of the first Swiss-based digital currency exchange platform to be fully compliant with Swiss and U.S. AML acts and with the Swiss Banking Act.
